Girls 16U September 7 & 8 11:30am - 2pm
Girls 17U/18U September 7 & 8 3pm - 5:30pm
Girls 14U October 5 & 6 10am - 12:30pm
All Boys October 19 & 20 Noon - 2:30pm
Girls 12U/13U November 9 & 10 10am - 12:30pm

What age group am I?

Richmond Volleyball Club follows the USAV Age Definition to determine what age group you will tryout for. You can find that document below. However certain players are able to play in an age group that is higher than stated based on a couple of scenarios:

  • The player played up on a RVC TEAM the year before on the highest level team in the age group. For example, a 13s eligible player played up in age on the RVC 14 National team.
  • The level desired is not offered at the players defined age group.

Understand that if a player is trying out up in age, they will need to make the highest level team at that age group in order to play up in age.

***If a player would like to tryout up in age and does not fall into one of the two categories listed above, the parents will need to contact Chris Wakefield to discuss as there are certain circumstances that may allow this to happen.***

What happens after tryouts?

  • Once tryouts are complete, team offers will go out to players that were selected for a team. This offer will include the team that was made, information about that team (practice schedule, coaches etc.) We will also post on the website a list of tryout numbers which correspond to players that have made the indicated team.
  • Once a player has received their offer via email, they have 24 hours (from the time email was sent) to ACCEPT or DECLINE their offer. You can DECLINE an offer by letting the 24 hours pass or reply to the email stating you are declining. If no action is taken after 24 hours it will be treated as a DECLINEANY ONE NOT RECEIVING AN EMAIL BUT SEES THAT THEY HAVE MADE A TEAM SHOULD REACH OUT IMMEDIATELY BY CALLING THE OFFICE 804-358-3000 AND EMAILING CHRIS WAKEFIELD.
  • If you ACCEPT your offer, you will follow instructions in the email to pay the $700 deposit. Deposit is NON REFUNDABLE and secures spot on the team. This deposit goes towards to total team cost for the season.
  • Part of this process is also registering player for USAV Membership. Instructions on completing that will be part of the offer email. AAU Membership will be processed by the club if it's applicable to the team made.
  • Offers for GIRLS TEAMS at each age group will go out two levels at a time starting with National/Zonal and then State/Regional. Once National/Zonal is close to being finalized, the invites and post for State/Regional will go out. This process can take a few days so please be patient. Offers for BOYS TEAMS will go out one level at a time starting with the highest level being offered. Same process as above will occur until team is filled, then next level offers will go out.
