How Does Indoor Leagues Work?
Evening recreation leagues are set up with men’s, women’s and coed leagues. Each league has a variety of levels starting with basic levels up to advanced levels. Men’s and women’s leagues typically run Sundays, Mondays or Tuesdays and coed leagues run Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays.

Read our Rules of Play for league rules and deadlines.

What If I Don’t Have an Indoor League Team? How Do I Join a Team?

No problem! There are many teams looking for additional players and a list is maintained on our Free Agents List so captains can connect with you. You do not need to have a membership to list yourself as a free agent.

Teams are allowed a “tryout” for someone who is not yet a member. This player only needs to stop by the front desk to sign a waiver before playtime. If this player would like to come back to play another night, they will need to have an active membership before time of play.

How Much Does an Indoor League Team Cost?

In addition to an RVC membership, teams pay between $470 and $635 depending on the night of play. $470 - new team; $565 - Sun/Fri teams; $635 - Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs teams. A brand new team consists of no more than 2 current RVC members.

This works out to between $60-$80 per player for the season. Your cost is usually dependent on the number of players on your roster and how the team chooses to divide the fee.

Each team must have paid their team dues in full by Week 3. Captains are responsible for updating their roster and making sure each player, including subs, has active memberships. Rosters must include 6-15 players.

When Do I Register a Team for the Next Season?

Registration deadlines typically are about 4-5 weeks before a new season starts. Check the club calendar on our homepage, Team Registration page, or reach out to leagues@rvc.net.

Club membership is required to participate in Adult League. Captains are responsible for updating their roster on and making sure each player, including subs, has active memberships. Rosters must include 6-15 players. Rosters and team memberships are due by Week 3 of the season.

  • B Leagues: still in the early learning stages of the game, but knows the skills. Players know how to bump, are developing setting skills, and can spike. They have usually played in an organized recreational league and has played more than gym class or backyard volleyball.
  • C Leagues: player is a beginner.  This recreational player should know the basics of volleyball and have some volleyball experience. Player is just beginning to bump, set, and spike.
  • Masters (Men 50+ and Women 45+): This league is designed for our lifetime players still looking to compete. Playing two matches a night, one night a week, it’s a great way to stay active and involved in volleyball while competing with like-minded players.
