Coaching Opportunities
The Richmond
Volleyball Club juniors program is searching for coaches
for the upcoming season of USA Volleyball.
This is a
great way to get more experience with volleyball, work
with and teach a group of eager young players, and earn
a few dollars for your time and effort. If you have any
interest in helping with RVC Juniors, call
Scott Newton
at 358-3000
with your gender / age / level preferences. Also, please
print out and complete our
RVC Juniors Coaching Application.
About
the program
RVC Juniors is a developmental effort for kids with
separate teams for boys and girls in 8 to 18-and-under age groups.
There are
different levels of teams: "City" teams will play in a
Sunday afternoon league and can participate in local
USAV tournaments; "Regional" teams play 6-8 tournaments
within the state and girls teams will play in multi-day
events; "Zonal" teams play 10-12 tournaments and travel
more with 2-3 overnight stays, and "National" teams play
12-15 tournaments with 3-5 out-of-state tournaments or
multi-day events including at least one national
championship. Coaching assignments are based on coaching
experience, available time, and seniority.
Player
registration begins in October and tryouts are generally held in November. (For more specific information, see Dates of Importance.)
Tournament play begins in January or early February and
ends in May for most teams, and June/July for Zonal/National teams.
All
tournaments and most practices are held on weekends;
there is some practice time available on weekday
afternoons.
RVC is
supportive of coaches’ efforts to improve their skills
and finances many opportunities for training/education.
Coaches do get paid! Pay is determined by the amount of time required to work with each level of team.
