Welcome to the fourth annual Monument City Classic. Due to the Democratic Party of Virginia holding its Jefferson-Jackson Dinner over the weekend of February 9 and 10 in downtown Richmond we will be moving the Monument City Classic to January 19 - 21, 2008. The tournament will still be held in the Greater Richmond Convention Center. We will now be able to offer Open / Club Divisions for the 14's - 18's. New for this year we will offer a 12's division that will play Saturday and Sunday (January 19 and 20). There will be twenty four teams accepted in the 14 / 15/ 16 /17/ 18 and under divisions and sixteen teams in the 12 and under division. Registration will open on November 1, 2007.

Our inaugural girl's event in 2005 saw 72 teams competing on 20 courts. The tournament hosted single age groups for 18/17/16/15/14 and under teams on a first come first served basis all in the convention center. The 2006 event saw 124 teams competing on 22 courts in the convention center. We once again hosted single age groups that included Open and Club Divisions for the 16's and 18's. The tournament filled well ahead of the entry deadline.

The 2007 tournament was well attended by collegiate coaches of the Mid Atlantic. In all there were over 70 colleges coaches from 64 colleges representing 25 different conferences. To view a list please click here.

We will utilize SignUpToPlay for the online registration. Teams are accepted on a "first paid, first accepted basis." The deadline for entries is December 14, 2007 but could close earlier if divisions fill. To complete the entry process we must receive proper payment and a signed tournament entry form. Paying by credit card and faxing the tournament entry form to (804) 358-1018 is the fastest way to complete the entry process. The entry fee is $475 for the 14's - 18's and $425 for the 12's. Each team will be guaranteed seven matches (or game equivalent). 

Virginia Commonwealth University's head women's volleyball coach, James Finley, will be conducting a FREE recruiting seminar Friday evening from 7:00pm - 9:00pm on the VCU campus. The seminar will be held in the Sports Medicine Building which is next to the Siegel Center. The address is 1300 West Broad Street.

There will be an IMPACT Clinic conducted by Pat Kendrick, head women's volleyball coach for George Mason University, scheduled for Friday, January 18 from 6:00pm - 10:00pm in the parlors the VCU Sports Medicine building. The address is 1300 West Broad Street.  The cost is $50 and checks need to be made payable to "USAV Old Dominion Region". Please contact us for advanced registration.
