The Greater Richmond Convention Center is pleased to host the Monument City Classic. The GRCC, just as every other convention center has some rules that must be followed. For security and business reasons coolers and food purchased outside the convention center are not permitted anywhere inside the convention center.

Athlete Drop Off

Athletes can be dropped off on the 5th Street side of the convention center.

Awards

For the 12's and 13's divisions the Monument City Classic is pleased to present team and individual awards for the top two teams in the Gold Divisions. The athletes from the top two teams in all other divisions will receive individual awards.

For the 14 through 18's divisions the Monument City Classic is pleased to present team and individual awards for the top three teams in Division I and individual awards for the top three teams in Division II.

Coolers

No coolers of any kind, or for any reason are permitted in the Greater Richmond Convention Center. Coolers left inside the building will be removed to the outside of the building. Coolers left outside the building are the sole responsibility of the owner, but may be confiscated if security deems them a hazard. Neither the Richmond Volleyball Club nor the facility will assume any resonsibility for coolers or providing a place for them.

This is a Greater Richmond Convention Center rule that we must enforce as a condition of our contract. This is not our rule! We understand people do not like this, and neither do we. But we are bound by the terms of the contract and cannot negotiate this away.

We apologize for any inconvenience it causes.

Any individuals who ignore or verbally abuse the security staff will be asked to immediately leave the premises. Please abide by the rules and let hte tournament by enjoyable for everyone.

Format

All matches will play a best of three to 25 with any third games to 15. All divisions will be guaranteed 7 matches.

Format for the Monument City Classic will be wave play. The 18's , 17 Open, 17 Club, 16 Open, 16 Club, and 12's divisions will begin play at 8:00am on Saturday January 16, 2010. The 15 Open, 15 Club, 14 Open, 14 Club, and 13's will begin play at 3:00pm on Saturday January 16, 2010.

The 18's and 15 Club divisions will play one four team pool or game equivalent on Saturday and Sunday and conclude with a four team bracket on Monday with a two match guaranty. The last match will be scheduled no later than 4:00pm on Monday. Each team should play eight matches or game equivalent. (Flow chart TBD).

The 13's, 14's 15 Open, 16's, and 17's divisions will play one four team pool or game equivalent on Saturday and Sunday and conclude with a three team pool on Monday. The last match will be scheduled no later than 4:00pm on Monday. Each team should play eight matches or game equivalent. (Flow chart TBD).

The 12's division will play one four team pool on Saturday morning and two thirds of a four team pool on Saturday afternoon. Pool play will conclude on Sunday morning followed by playoffs. The last match will be scheduled for no later than 1:00pm on Sunday. (Flow chart TBD).

Lawn Chairs

Lawn chairs or any type of folding chairs are no longer permitted inside the playing venue. This will assist us in keeping the aisles clear. They are presently still permitted on the carpeted areas of the convention center. The convention center will be placing plenty of chairs at each court.

Outside Food

NO OUTSIDE FOOD can be brought into the Greater Richmond Convention Center, not even into the lobby. Parking

There is a secured parking deck for the convention center on the corner of 3rd and Marshall Streets. The cost is $6 per day with no re-entry.

There is limited on street parking and the meters are not enforced on Saturday or Sunday. There are also unsecured parking lots around the convention center at various prices and there is also a secured parking deck across from the convention center on 5th Street for $11 per day.
