The Boys' East Coast Championships is a "Stay to Play Event "
The Boys' East Coast
Championship (BECC) is an annual event played over Memorial Day weekend. This tournament is part of the USA Volleyball
(USAV) qualification process used to determine
the "Open Division" teams at the Boys' Junior Olympic Championships
(JOVC). The BECC awards up to three bids in each age group, provided
there are a minimum of fifteen entries in the age group. In the event of previously qualified teams the bids will trickle down according to the USA Volleyball Boy's Bid Manual.
The format will be determined by the USAV Competition Committee and will follow all policies set forth in the USAV Boys' Bid Tournament Manual. Play will begin promptly at 8:00am on Saturday and Sunday for the 15's and 16's, and 3:00pm on Saturday and Sunday for the 12's, 13's, 14's, 17's and 18's. All divisions will play one wave on Saturday and one wave on Sunday. Playoffs will begin at 8:00am on Monday and scheduled to conclude by 4pm.
Registration will open on Thursday, December 13, 2012. We will utilize Advanced Event Systems for our online registration process, scheduling, and results. We will require teams living outside a 50 mile radious of Richmond to stay in our selected hotels with reservations made through our selected housing bureau. This is the same system used by USA Volleyball and the Boy's Junior National Championships. The tournament will take place May 25 - 27, 2013 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center.
The entry fee for the 2013 Boys' East Coast Championships in the 12 through 18 divisions will be $595. We will continue to accept entries after the April 30, 2013 deadline but there is no guaranty teams will be accepted. There are no refunds after the entry deadline. We will require teams living outside a 50 mile radius of Richmond to stay in our selected hotels with reservations made through PSA.
There is an addmission charge of $15 for the event or $7 per day. Those families making a minimum two night stay through PSA will receive free addmission in to the event. More information will be posted at a later date.
The Old Dominion Region will offer an IMPACT Clinic 6:00pm Friday night ,May 24 at a site to be determined. IMPACT is the minimum coaching requirement for any team interested in participating in the Junior National Championships or its qualifying events and this will be your last chance for a face to face clinic. The cost is $100 and the checks need to be made payable to "USAV Old Dominion Region."
Check - In will begin at 5pm on Friday, May 24and will continue until 10pm. Please enter the convention center through the doors at the corner of 3rd and Marshall Streets.
