Mission Statement
Richmond Volleyball Club is a nonprofit organization
dedicated to developing athletes of all ages for amateur volleyball
competition. The purpose of RVC is to promote interest in the sport
of volleyball, provide training in the skills and techniques of
volleyball, and foster teamwork, sportsmanship and an appreciation
for health and wellness.
About us
The Richmond Volleyball Club, a private, not-for-profit
organization, was founded in 1981 when two area leagues, TRAVL and
Fan League, merged and opened what was RVC's East location at
3300 West Marshall Street.
The popularity of league play at RVC grew tremendously during the
1980's, resulting in a much needed expansion. In the fall of 1991,
RVC West, with six courts at 1907 Westmoreland Street, opened its
doors to the membership. These two locations, housing a total of ten
courts, served RVC until January, 2010. After a long search for the right location, the Board of Directors purchased and renovated RVC's current home at 2921 Byrdhill Rd. This location boasts 12 indoor courts and space for outdoor courts, making RVC one of the largest volleyball-dedicated
facilities in the world.
Five full-time and numerous part-time employees
operate the club. A volunteer Board of Directors, consisting of ten
members selected from the general membership, guides RVC management.
Currently, RVC has nearly 2,500 active members and up to 240 teams
participating in evening recreational leagues from Sunday through
Friday. RVC also supports 40 USAV and recreational juniors teams annually. The club hosts many adult and juniors tournaments. In addition, RVC sponsors outdoor tournaments,
skills clinics, referee training, and other special events related
to the promotion of volleyball...the sport for a lifetime.
The Club
Our concession stand offers soft
drinks, sandwiches, pizza, hot dogs, and beer/wine - all at competitive prices!
Our sports shop provides all your volleyball clothing and
equipment needs. The
Shop is open whenever the facility is staffed (not during juniors practices unless otherwise open).
Showers are available as is rental equipment for RVC
members.
